Yes at that moment it might seem useless, it is when you sit down to take note of what people you spent the day or time with might have told you and how you could invest it towards what you want to achieve.
I have noticed when people talk about investing they always think it has to be capital and they forget what someone experienced that might be able to help them out is an investment to them.
There is a moment when small things you do, when they add up they are able to push you or inspire you towards the major plan or goal you want to achieve.
As a result, what you do give it your best effort and passion to get it done.
